SGT. Rock (Issue #3 of 6)

I just finished up the third issue of the new SGT. Rock mini-series (pub in March 09).

Okay, it finally got better.

Check my previous reviews of issues here and here.  We’re finally getting the sense that Rock is the leader, and comic book fans will likely dig the haunted tank angle, which “was originally featured in the war anthology, ‘G.I. Combat’ from 1961 through 1987. The concept was created by writer and editor Robert Kanigher and artist Russ Heath” (Jeffrey Renaud @ CBR).  It is a nice touch, mixing myth into the narrative.

With Rock and his group surrounded, and the breakout and break-through attempts a failure, enter the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, who set out to aid the Lost Battalion.

“Oh, it’s on,” as the kids say.  I’m looking forward to see where Tucci takes this most famous event.
